So maybe we can wait until we meet and continue this discussion. Are you visiting the US any time soon? :) Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10364683669985452865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-385131120816018433.post-63948985844459168342014-01-01T13:07:42.420+02:002014-01-01T13:07:42.420+02:00Dear Alaa,

One year is not a short time in a four years presidency; furthermore a country is driven forward only with one way, that is : one step forward every morning; we have not seen one step forward in that year, only steps that resulted in more division between parties.
2. What you said about the English language is a small issue of no importance in this discussion.
3. When the media attacks a government, the response should be actions from the government that are in the best interest of the people, we have seen non during that year.
4. The problem with Morsi is that he did not provide a democratic path for his impeachment in case of wrong doing or not doing enough to improve the life of the people, he did not call for parliamentary election to put the power of the people into effect, please refer to my article
http://abdelsalam-elshazly.blogspot.com/2013/07/cnn-connect.html
It is also notably sad that the current administration is not doing much to improve things as well; soon I hope, there will be an elected president and parliament, and that they will improve things for us.
Happy New Year Alaa to you, Ola and the kids. We cannot judge them during this short period of time. A senator presents to the parliament the opinion of the people in his electoral circuit which he is representing. In the end it is up to the majority in the parliament whether or not a law should be made. We have not seen any laws decreed regarding teaching the English language or the other examples you gave. The problem is that some Egyptians did not want and did not like the MB to rule and they rejected anything they said, whether it was good or not. Whatever the MB would have done, would have been rejected. The media played a big role in convincing undecided Egyptians that the MB are wrong. In the end they fell, not because they were wrong, but because some Egyptians rejected them from the beginning.
To answer your last question: Democracy should always rule as a system. It does not matter who the person is.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10364683669985452865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-385131120816018433.post-6511121140837031432013-12-28T22:57:37.184+02:002013-12-28T22:57:37.184+02:00عندما اختار الشعب الرئيس اختار اسوأ المرشحين

I agree, as well as the majority of Egyptians, that democracy is what is needed and not the isolation of one group of the society. Unfortunately, and as you mentioned, Egyptians do not understand how to use democracy and they need training. The wide base election system will teach those who have different opinions than the majority how to respect the others choice and work harder to win the next elections. Although the current regime and some Egyptians like the idea of eliminating a big chunk of the society, I think they are wrong and it will not succeed. It brings hatred instead of love and division instead of unity. Democracy includes equality between people and not to discriminate against them because they think different or they are opponents. This era has been long gone and it is of ignorance to bring it back again.
Nice job Solom!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10364683669985452865noreply@blogger.com
